The new Skyactiv-G engine is offered in the Mazda3’s i Touring and i Grand Touring trim. The direct-injected DOHC VVT 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine produces 155 horsepower (HP) and 148 foot pounds of torque. It’s a solid motor, but the whole Skyactiv story is about more than just the power plant.
Mazda has released at least one TSB for the 2.0L SKYACTIV-G engine in the 2012-’13 Mazda 3 and 2013 CX-5. Bulletin 01-003/13 covers a rough-idle condition with an illumined MIL and DTCs P0015 and P0524. The DTC code P0015 is exhaust cam timing over-retarded, and the code P0524 is for low engine oil pressure.
You can get yourself into a Mazda3i Touring with the 155-horsepower 2.0-liter Skyactiv for $18,700, though our 3i Grand Touring with the same engine carried a more weighty $22,050 bottom line.
The 3 offers a much more limited selection of engines than rivals, though. At first, there was the choice of petrol or diesel power, but the latter 114bhp 1.8 Skyactiv-D barely lasted a year
P0302, cylinder 2 misfire, keeps popping up. I have a 2012 skyactiv. I'm getting this code which suggests a cylinder 2 misfire was detected. 95k miles. NGK Plugs have maybe 10k on them. I never got this code before doing the plug change, but now it comes and goes from time to time. I'm noticing no performance issues.
