Hardtop Roof Problem E89 2009. So today i decided to interfere with my BMW Z4 E89's (2009) hard top roof, and stop it just before it closes.. to my excitement it did and won't close now! So today I figured out a way to fix a bmw window that won’t roll up for free, I hope you guys enjoy it and it works for you guys!
I have a 03 z4 and the roof wont open. it unlatches when i i have a 03 z4 and the roof wont open. it unlatches when i push the button but will not go all the way down. I tried the manual way to unlatch with pulling on the cable i think its called tthe bowden … There are a couple of very important steps he left out. 1 Open the hood (bonnet for you Brits). Locate the fuse panel near the firewall on the driver's side (American). Yank fuse #7 which partially controls the central locking system and the convertible top. If you previously couldn't get into your trunk, now you can.
Pull free the rear weatherstripping that connects the top’s canvas from the rear edge of the car body. Cover the edge surrounding the top with removable painter’s tape, wrapping inside the alcove a bit. Add a layer of Gorilla Tape on top of the painter’s tape, for better toughness against scratches.
Now that the car is here and the weather is nice I decided to pull the red tab in the boot/trunk and use the car until I get time to repair the roof motor. So the tray thing in the boot is down(no obstructions), switch bypassed, red tab pulled and turned so it stays out. Unlatched the roof from button and pushed roof back from the middle.
